I had a blast making this little Happy House Mug Rug and it sews up really fast! It measures 6 1/2″ x 9 1/2″, so it’s big enough for a teapot, too, (or lots of cookies)!
I used the Sweet Tweet fabric line from Benartex and it’s bright and cheerful. This would be perfect for the little princess in your life or your best friend.
If you like bright and whimsical fabric, you’ll love this project! I got my inspiration from the birdhouse fabric in this collection:
Isn’t that the cutest house? I love the pink scallop fabric for the roof and it makes perfect quilting guidelines, too!
With all of that color, I needed to bring out my brightest mugs and a few polka dots too!
Since Valentine’s Day is around the corner, I thought I would try a house with a heart inside. This is how my first attempt turned out:
I know, it looks like a bird face (which is not what I was going for)! So, I’m back to the drawing board and this time with a softer fabric line.
Do you recognize the fabric “Ruby”, by Bonnie & Camille? I’ve had this fat quarter bundle staring at me for over a year! I finally broke into it.
So, I’m making a new tutorial using a house block as the base for a Valentine pillow! I can’t wait to show you!
Thanks for visiting today!
